Personal Insurance

Auto insurance shopped, not sold.

Texas requires every driver to carry liability cover. We help you work out what you need beyond the minimum, then put it in front of several carriers at once.

Auto insurance is the one policy nearly every Texan is legally required to hold, which is exactly why it is so often bought on autopilot. Rates move constantly, carriers change their appetite for particular drivers and vehicles, and the quote you accepted three years ago has very little to do with what you could be paying today.

What Texas actually requires

Texas sets a minimum liability requirement of 30/60/25 — $30,000 for bodily injury per person, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage. Those numbers keep you legal. They are not the numbers that keep you safe.

A single hospital stay or a written-off late-model truck clears $25,000 without much effort, and anything above your limit becomes your personal liability. For most households the useful question is not "what is the minimum" but "what would this cost me if I were at fault in a bad accident" — then buying limits that answer it honestly.

Where drivers are most often underinsured

Uninsured and underinsured motorist cover is the gap we see most. Texas is an at-fault state, so the other driver pays — until they turn out to have no policy, or only the statutory minimum. UM/UIM steps in exactly there, and it is usually inexpensive relative to what it protects.

The second common gap is the vehicle itself. If you still owe money on a car, the difference between the insurer's payout and what your lender is owed is yours to cover. Gap coverage closes that, and it matters most in the early years of a loan.

What it covers

The parts of a auto insurance policy

Liability

Pays for injury and property damage you cause to others. The part Texas requires, and the part worth buying above the minimum.

Collision

Repairs or replaces your own vehicle after an impact, whoever was at fault.

Comprehensive

The losses that are not collisions — hail, theft, fire, vandalism, and the deer that appeared from nowhere.

Uninsured motorist

Steps in when the driver at fault has no insurance, or nowhere near enough of it.

Medical payments

Medical costs for you and your passengers regardless of fault, with no deductible to meet first.

Roadside and rental

Towing, lockouts and a hire car while yours is in the shop. Small add-ons that matter on the day.

Working with us

What we do differently

We are an independent agency, so we place your auto insurance across several carriers rather than fitting you to one company's product. That means a genuine comparison, and someone to call who is not a call centre.

  • Compare several carriers on the same set of limits, not on different ones
  • Bundle auto with home or renters where the discount is real
  • Review UM/UIM and deductibles before you commit, not at claim time
  • Re-shop at renewal instead of absorbing an increase

Common questions

Auto Insurance, answered

What is the minimum car insurance required in Texas?

Texas requires 30/60/25 liability cover: $30,000 bodily injury per person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage. That is the legal floor — most drivers should carry more, because anything above your limit comes out of your own pocket.

Will my rate go up after a claim that was not my fault?

A not-at-fault claim generally has far less effect than an at-fault one, but carriers weigh claim history differently from one another. That variation is exactly why comparing across carriers after an incident is worth doing rather than assuming your renewal is the best available.

Does my policy cover hail damage?

Hail is covered under comprehensive, not collision. In North Texas that makes comprehensive worth carrying even on older vehicles — hail events here regularly total cars that were otherwise sound.

Can I insure a car that is not registered in my name?

Usually you need an insurable interest in the vehicle, and carriers vary in how they handle it. Tell us the situation and we will find a carrier whose rules fit rather than guessing.

How quickly can I get proof of insurance?

In most cases the same day. Call (817) 540-2947 and we can usually issue documents once cover is bound.
