Participant liability
Injury to students during training, sparring and competition.
Contact is the point of the activity, and many participants are children. Both facts shape what cover a studio needs.
Martial arts studios carry a participant injury exposure that is inherent rather than accidental — controlled contact is the training. Add a largely under-18 membership and the policy needs to handle both physical injury and the safeguarding considerations that come with teaching children.
Carriers rate on discipline and contact level. Full-contact sparring, grappling and weapons training are assessed differently from forms-based or non-contact instruction, so describe the curriculum accurately.
Waivers signed by a parent or guardian are essential where participants are minors, and their enforceability is more limited for children than for adults. Where a studio works with children, abuse cover should be confirmed explicitly rather than assumed.

Wherever children train, yes, and it is frequently excluded or sub-limited on general forms. Confirm it explicitly on any quote for a studio teaching minors.
Members get hurt doing exactly what you asked them to do. A signed waiver helps — it does not end the claim.
