Business Insurance

Drone insurance for commercial operators.

Commercial drone work is aviation, and general liability policies exclude aircraft. That exclusion includes yours.

Commercial drone operation sits under FAA Part 107, and the insurance follows aviation rather than general business lines. Standard general liability policies exclude aircraft, and most define aircraft broadly enough to include unmanned systems — so the cover has to be arranged specifically.

Aviation liability, hull and privacy

Aviation liability covers injury and property damage caused by the aircraft. Hull cover insures the drone itself, which matters given equipment costs, and is usually written on an agreed value basis.

Privacy is the exposure people forget. Aerial imagery over property that is not your client's can produce invasion of privacy claims, and that cover is not automatic on every form. If you shoot in residential areas, confirm it.

Working with us

What we do differently

We are an independent agency, so we place your drone insurance across several carriers rather than fitting you to one company's product. That means a genuine comparison, and someone to call who is not a call centre.

  • Do not rely on general liability — aircraft exclusions cover drones
  • Confirm privacy liability if you fly over residential areas
  • Keep Part 107 certification and flight logs current

Common questions

Drone Insurance, answered

Does my business policy cover my drone?

Almost certainly not. General liability policies exclude aircraft, and the definition is usually broad enough to capture unmanned systems. Drone cover has to be arranged as aviation.

Do I need insurance for Part 107 work?

The FAA does not mandate it, but clients and site owners routinely require proof of aviation liability before allowing commercial flights, commonly at $1 million.

Is privacy covered?

Not on every form. Aerial imagery can produce invasion of privacy claims, particularly in residential areas, so confirm the position if that is part of your work.
