Hull and machinery
The vessel, engine and permanently fitted equipment.
Homeowners policies cover small boats to a token limit. Anything with a real engine needs its own policy.
Boat and watercraft insurance covers the vessel, the liability that comes with operating it, and the trailer that gets it to the water. Homeowners policies typically extend to very small craft at low limits, and stop well short of anything most Texas lake owners actually run.
Hull cover handles damage to the boat, and settlement basis matters — agreed value pays a figure set at inception, actual cash value depreciates. On an older boat those are very different outcomes.
Navigational limits define where you are covered. A policy written for inland lakes will not follow the boat to the Gulf, so tell us where the boat actually goes rather than where it usually stays.

Injury and damage to others, including water-skiers under tow where included.
The trailer, on the road and while stored.
The cost of recovering a sunk or stranded vessel, which owners are liable for.
We are an independent agency, so we place your boat insurance across several carriers rather than fitting you to one company's product. That means a genuine comparison, and someone to call who is not a call centre.
Usually only very small craft at a low limit. Anything with meaningful horsepower or value needs its own policy, and liability on the water is not something to rely on a token extension for.
A figure set when the policy is written that the insurer pays in a total loss, without depreciation. Actual cash value depreciates instead, which on an older boat can be a large difference.
It can be included on the boat policy, covering it on the road and in storage. Confirm it rather than assuming, since the auto policy towing it generally will not cover the trailer itself.
An RV is a vehicle when it is moving and a home when it is parked. The policy has to handle both.
