Personal Insurance

Motorcycle insurance for Texas riders.

Texas requires the same liability minimums as a car. What a bike needs beyond that is quite different.

Motorcycle insurance carries the same 30/60/25 Texas liability minimum as an automobile, but the exposures diverge sharply from there. Injury severity is higher, custom parts are common and rarely covered by default, and gear represents real money that a standard policy ignores.

Custom parts, gear and uninsured motorist

Aftermarket exhausts, seats, paint and accessories are usually covered only up to a small default limit, often a token amount. If you have invested in the bike, that limit needs raising deliberately.

Uninsured and underinsured motorist cover matters more on a motorcycle than almost anywhere else. Injury costs in a bike collision escalate quickly, and the at-fault driver's minimum limits rarely go far.

What it covers

The parts of a motorcycle insurance policy

Liability

The Texas 30/60/25 minimum, and good reason to carry more.

Physical damage

Collision and comprehensive on the bike, including theft.

Custom parts and gear

Accessories, aftermarket parts and riding gear above the token default limit.

Uninsured motorist

Particularly important given injury severity in motorcycle collisions.

Working with us

What we do differently

We are an independent agency, so we place your motorcycle insurance across several carriers rather than fitting you to one company's product. That means a genuine comparison, and someone to call who is not a call centre.

  • Raise the custom parts limit if the bike has aftermarket work
  • Carry meaningful UM/UIM — minimum limits do not cover a serious bike injury
  • Ask about lay-up rates if the bike is stored through winter

Common questions

Motorcycle Insurance, answered

What does Texas require for a motorcycle?

The same 30/60/25 liability minimum as a car — $30,000 bodily injury per person, $60,000 per accident, $25,000 property damage. Given injury severity on a bike, most riders should carry more.

Are my custom parts covered?

Usually only to a small default limit. If you have spent money on exhausts, paint or accessories, the limit needs raising specifically or most of that value is uninsured.

Is my riding gear covered?

Sometimes, under accessories or a separate gear limit, and often not by default. Worth asking about if you have invested in a helmet, leathers and armour.
